I’ve known Megan for a little while. She used to own the Barre 3 studio in town that I worked out at and she also hired me to take professional photos of the studio + her teaching, the other teachers, etc. for social media. I had always been very inspired by her - she is just a wonderful, deep, authentic, wise soul. You feel this immediately when you’re around her and I am for certain I’m not the only one who feels that energy or knows this about her. When I knew her at the studio, I knew her as married to a husband and she has two boys around the ages of my son.
Fast forward - covid happened. I stopped going to the studio and lost touch with her for a time. She sold her studio and I had seen via IG she was getting her law degree. Sometime later, I saw she posted that she was gay (maybe it was well before I saw but I was off social media for a few months) and that was the first time I had heard anything about it - I didn’t know a story behind it. She’s pretty well known in our town and I knew immediately how scary that must be to reveal yourself knowing how many people were going to assume things, gossip and who knows what else or just straight-up, unreasonably fear her choices or her. So I messaged her that I supported her and saw how much courage that must have taken to break free. In her words “I’ve been the same all along and I’ve spent my life belonging.”
A few weeks later, she reached out to have me take photos of her and her love - JT. I was honored she asked me and truly so happy to be the one to take these first images like this of them revealing their love for each other. Jill had me laughing, she plays a guitar, her decorating skills and book collection were impressive. The talent, taste, emotional intelligence and openness between these two is amazing. In these images, you can see how much joy and love they share and it’s inspiring.
I’m so happy for you guys, Megan & JT. Keep on being you because the world needs it.
