FAQ

  • HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?

Ahh! I’m on my 14th year. I did not go to school for photography in college (like many of us photogs out here). I studied International Business and Marketing because I didn’t know what I wanted to do other than travel - and take photos of my travel. That’s actually where my spark for photography began - photographing nature and objects. But I had a few “office” jobs out of college and during the 2008 recession kept getting laid off so I decided to pursue a job where I could work for myself. I took some photography classes at SMU in Dallas (that’s where I was living at the time) then just started offering people free or super cheap sessions to begin my portfolio and gain experience and that’s how it all started. I moved back to Fayetteville and rebuilt my business in NWA about 10 years ago.

  • WHERE ARE YOU BASED OUT OF?

I am based out of Fayetteville, AR and travel up to Bella Vista and down near Devil’s Den without charging a travel fee. If it’s outside my NWA circle of travel, I will charge a fee based on current mileage rates.

  • HOW MANY IMAGES DO YOU INCLUDE?

It really depends on the shoot but I promise you’ll have more than enough for all your printing needs and lots of options for choosing your favorites to frame. I’ll never put a cap on how many I deliver and I love to include ones that might not necessarily be framers but that help tell the whole story. I’m a huge advocate for albums - that way you don’t really have to choose and it can read like a book.

  • WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?

Usually 2 weeks or less. If I’m seasonably busy it could be a touch longer but I would definitely let you know at our session when I think I’ll have them ready.

  • DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?

Yes, please just ask. Typically I require a deposit then your balance is due the day of our session, but if you need to split the session amount into three payments, I am happy to work with you to make it more affordable.

  • CAN YOU PHOTOSHOP ME TO MAKE ME LOOK (fill in the blank) OR HEADSWAP?

I am not seeking perfection in you or anything else. I will do my best to capture images with you in poses and in light where you feel most confident and will definitely edit out anything that’s not normally there (bruise, scratch, boogers, food - kids lol). I also do not typically headswap unless it’s a big group of people and I didn’t get a single shot where everyone has eyes open or something. But that is a rarity.

  • WHAT DO WE WEAR?

First and honest answer…whatever TF you want. But if that’s way too broad and you need help or direction, I am more than happy to provide ideas, help you choose between outfits, and let you know what looks best in photos. My big no’s are 1. do not go out purchase something you will never ever step foot in again (unless that’s your thing) but don’t feel like you have to buy a whole new wardrobe just for picture day 2. do not wear something that makes you feel uncomfortable (make sure it fits well - not too big, not too small, not too bunchy or something you have to mess with the entire shoot or have to ask me to keep an eye on the whole session) 3. do not recommend neons or super bright colors unless it’s an editorial style shoot - colors reflect onto skin and some colors for certain skin tones are more flattering than others.

  • WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL/RESCHEDULE OR IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

If something comes up more than 24 hours before your session, I can usually reschedule you for a date within the season you are wanting to capture. But in the case that it’s fall (my busiest season) reschedule dates are very limited and mostly held for cases when we have to reschedule for rain so it’s not guaranteed. If you cancel, your deposit is non-refundable.

For weather, I usually like to wait up to 3 hours before your session to cancel, unless we know for sure your shooting spot will be rained out/too wet or muddy or too dangerous to be outside.

  • DO YOU OFFER MINI SESSIONS?

I only offer mini sessions once a year, usually in the spring. If you want to know when I’ll announce them sign up for my Newsletter and/or follow me on Insta and I announce them there next. I realize sometimes people “just want a mini session for a few Christmas card pics” but that is not my jam. There are plenty of talented folks out there where that is their jam though and I’d be happy to give you recs.

  • DO YOU SHOOT WEDDINGS AND ELOPEMENTS?

I do shoot elopements and the occasional wedding if it’s a fit for me. I used to photograph the big, 10 hour-a-day weddings (before I had multiple kids) and now they no longer fit in my lifestyle. But if you are a laid-back bride/couple and don’t need a whopping big shabang of a wedding, but need someone to capture an intimate ceremony where it’s just you two or a very small guest list, and don’t need hours and hours of coverage, then I am def ya girl. I actually love documenting these type of events - and my approach is very documentary-style driven.
