DOCUMENTARY MICRO WEDDING SHOT ON FILM AND DIGITAL IN FAYETTEVILLE, AR

Forever, on film.

The most gorgeous, early fall morning in Fayetteville, AR .

People often assume I do not shoot weddings because I don’t often advertise that I do. I actually used to shoot those big, 12 hour-day weddings when I lived in Dallas, TX but once I had multiple kids, I realized being gone full weekends would not work with my lifestyle. However, I do photograph elopements and small, short weddings (now known as micro weddings) and this typical wedding would be catorgized as such.

The wedding was in the morning. I got there 30 minutes before the ceremony to capture family coming in and the details of the grounds at St. Catherine’s at Bell Gable. They had a very short ceremony in the intimate chapel with only their immediate families witnessing. After the ceremony, we took shots of the bride and groom with everyone and individual family shots. The bride wanted mostly candid shots of everything, which aligned perfectly with my documentary-driven photography style that I love. Then we focused on just shots of the bride and groom for a bit and then they rode off in their vintage Mercedes coup to head to the family brunch. It was so easy, natural and low-stress - honestly, I wish I would have done my wedding like this.

A few weeks before the wedding, I met with the couple for coffee to go over their vision. They really wanted a vintage feel to all the images (she wore her mother’s wedding gown!) and partly why they wanted some of the wedding shot on film. After I delivered her images she said: Oh. My. GOSH!!! How perfect!!! The photos are EXACTLY what I hoped for in every possible way. Shane and I come across exactly like ourselves, the family photos are natural and warm, the way you captured certain expressions. I could go on and on for hours. Thank you so much! Thank you for capturing our most loved day in a way that shows the warmth, comfort, and laid back vibe that everyone was feeling. The day was a blur, but these photos put me right back there and reminded me of moments that might’ve slipped by. We will for sure be reaching out again for future family documentary photos!

Your wedding day doesn’t have to be long, over-the-top or a crazy expensive day. You can invest in your photographs and the other things that are most meaningful to you and only be surrounded by the people who truly know you.
